The question is does social media enhance our messaging? Yes it does. Our eyes and our hearing combine when it comes to reading and looking at messages. When you add music to things or when you listen to other people talk, sometimes you pay more attention to something than when you have to read it without those things. If you are real inventive in making a power point, you do not have to have anything added to it. Sometime if you really want to make sure you get the attention of your audience, you will add music or a voice over to it. Power points are good. Here are some links to go to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGSsodAhPgk. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK7JOprl74. I am not sure if that was O or 0 in that site.
Keynotes and Garage Bands are very good also. Here are some sites that you might want to check out. Http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUOTJRkrss. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkcQoXCDaJs. I really liked these sites and I hope that you do too. Hopefully one day I will get the hang of using Keynotes and Garage Bands myself. So I do not have to rely on sites except my on.

Following Blogs
We have been asked to follow a blog and talk about the form, function, and substance of the blog. When you write a blog, it should be something that you care about and something that you want to share with others. Have some knowledge about what you are writing about. This will help make it interesting for the reader. I have two blogs that were interesting to me. One blog address is www.doggieblog.blog.com. I like blogs so this blog sticks out to me. The last blog really stuck out to me. She talked about her dog having cancer and how the dog was doing and how she was dealing with it. She made a statement in her blog that she doesn't want to compare dogs to children, but that is how she feels. The site talks about more than that. It is not a huge site with a lot of postings, but I liked it. The writer was writing from her heart. She talks about other things than her dog being sick, but you can tell she just wanted to share information with others.
Another site that I liked is http://www.blogher.com/blogher-topics/health. I think this is a very good site for women. It has several different subjects to look at for women. Their are different writers on this site. I think that this is a site that is worth looking at. The form is good. And even when you click on the site there are different themes to look at. It is not clumped together. It is easy to read. The information is something that you might need to take a look at. These are two sites give you information and is clearly written for certain people in mind. Take a look. I liked them. I hope you do to.

Media Tools
Today it seems like things are changing so fast. The way we communicate with each other and the way that you listen to music. Even the way companies advertise is changing. With things like youtube, twitter/facebook, blogs, and other new media tools being used on a daily basis. I want to give you a couple of sites to look at.

One of the media tools that I think has changed a lot are video games. Video games have changed so much in the last 15 years. You now have games that children and adults can learn from. You have a game now that I think is great. The Wii. It is a game that can be used by anybody at any age. Families play the game together. The game has been used in assistance living facilities. It is a great game that never gets boring.
Another new media tool that I see a lot of people use is the mobile phone. You have phones now that can do almost every thing that a computer can do. You can send and check messages. You can pay bills. You can watch television shows and listen to music. You can buy things from other sites. You take and send pictures. You can make small video clips. You can check what the weather is going to be like. There is so much that you can do on mobile phones. You do not have to be tied down in one spot to get things done any more.
And now blogs. I think that blogs are another good tool to use. I never would have thought this until I had to make one myself. You can write things down or put in pictures for others to look at what you are thinking about. Or what you want others to know about. Just give them the site and they can look at it. Blogs can be just an informal way of letting people know about something that is important. These are my three media tools. Which ones are yours.

Tracking Sources
In my blog today I am talking about where information comes from. We had a choice to pick from
the New York Times or the Huffington Post. Well I chose the Huffington Post. Most of the writers there work for other magazines as well as this one. One of the stories I tracked was by Eric Newton. His story was on News for High Schools: Digital Media Plus Teaching Equals Support For Freedom. In his story it took you to a site called www.knightfoundation.org. From there you could chose two other things to look at. The source of his information was they did surveys. That is how he got the information that he printed.
The other story that I looked at was a story by four different writers. The title was Missed Alarms & 40 Million Stolen Credit Card Numbers: How Target Blew It. The writers were M. Riley, B. Elgin, D. Lawrence, and C. Matlock. Each of these reporters got their information from people who work in some professional business related to the mater. For example they talked to someone from the FBI another talked to a an executive officer from Target, another talked to a lawyer for people wanting to sue target.
Each of the people in these articles had their own way of getting as you say their source of information. When I go through the list of Credibility of WWW Resources I think that both of these articles meet the criteria. Even though in my first article I never would of thought of surveys as a source of information. Trust me you had to read the story.
In writing, I guess anything can be a source. It all has to start somewhere. Sometimes it is reliable and sometimes it's not.

Most of the things that I know about social media is from reading, the internet, and other people. There are things about social media that I never thought of. One thing is that most people who have a computer, are on some form of social media site. Facebook, twitter, linked, google+ to just name a few. It is a money make for some. It is a way to get votes for some. some a way to find a job. And it is a way to stay connected with others for some.
When I say it is a money maker, that just means that companies are now using social media for advertisement, not just television or radio. This lets them reach more people. You know if you are like some, when the advertisement comes on the television you turn the channel. Candidates running for an office are now using social media. It lets them reach a different audience rather than just using the normal ways. Social media is always going to be a good way for people to stay in touch with each other. That is not going to change.
Some of the information that I have learned, I learned last semester in one of my classes. From the reading and watching videos that we had to do. I do believe that some of the information on these sites is reliable good information. Some of the things that are posted are not so reliable. For instance, advertisement is just what it is. It is advertisement. They want you to buy something. Watching a candidate running for office. Well!!! You have to decide if they are telling the truth or not. Businesses looking for people to work for them. It is a good way to find a job and make connections. As for the personal things on these sites. Sometimes you just have to say, Well!!!
You have to decide for yourself if what is posted on social media sites is the truth or not. Look at me writing this post. If you are reading this blog, do you believe what I have written or not. Some things are reliable and some things are not.

New Media
The biggest things that I use in the form of new media is Facebook. My phone is a window's phone. I like getting on my computer and seeing what they have to pop up as far as what's happening now. I like getting messages on Facebook. I really do not talk on the phone a lot so Facebook comes in really handy for me. I also like e-mail. You can send me what you have to say and I do not have to stop doing what I am doing to talk. Most of the time, it is something I do not need to respond to any way. My phone will send me alerts on the weather, and other things so I do not have to watch the news for that. I can look up a lot of information on my phone just like I can on my computer. That is a good thing. I do not to have to wait until I am at a computer to do some work or look up something.
When things like Facebook are used correctly, then it is no problem. The problem comes in when, like any thing else, it is used in the wrong way. Things have been posted on media sites that should not be. When things are posted on social media sites, people should make sure that there information is correct. When it is put out there for everyone to see, there is no taking it back. Depending what is said, saying sorry is just not enough.
